7.4 Technology Group 9 years, 5 months agoMy position is you do not really need to bring down the physical walls to integrate technology into learning. Technology and innovative learning design can break down classroom walls in a virtual sense and that is sufficient for social learning styles of the future. My reasons will follow soon.

good
we shall be waiting -
Ok Edward.
-
Great, Still waiting!
-
Very right Edward. It’s true the classroom walls are not physically broked down.
-
Of course breaking down the walls is figuratively used to refer to the act of extending learning beyond the traditional Classroom by the use of technology.
-
Willex, it may also refer to using the available space within the same walls or institution more creatively or better.

7.3 3 – new things and old ways – will old tactics work with mobile technologies? 9 years, 5 months agoAfter reading the article about the use of mobile phones in learning and how it is spreading like bush fire among our 21st century learners, I have been convinced that our teaching must be tailored to the way our learners can understand. Even though it is still a gimmick in our secondary schools for any learner to carry and use a mobile phone in…[Read more]

Sulaiman,
This is the greatest of problems we faced in the teaching and learning process. To me any thing that distracts attention among learners is what i may refer to as problem behavior. These are issues as referred to in our task 3. The question is managing these issues.

Thank you Stephen

It should not worry a teacher that the student has read ahead! That should be encouraged.

7.3 1 – old things and old ways – dedicated technology venues 9 years, 5 months agoOld things old ways: Low density labs. These are the questions i have come up about the pictures:
1. How will the teacher deal with delays in task execution?
2. How will the students quickly access the shared information with a few computers available?
3. How will the teacher aviod redundancy likely to happen when all the students dont heve access…[Read more] -

7.3 1 – old things and old ways – dedicated technology venues 9 years, 5 months agoI would ask the following questions:
What technical skills do teachers require in order to be effective facilitators in low density computer labs?
What precautions need to be considered when using low density computer labsIn what ways can teachers make their lessons engaging and interesting in these venues?
What would be the appropriate role…[Read more]-
Thanks Nellie, can you put them in the wiki and then edit? I think it may be easier to edit from there where we can easily see repetitions and make amendments. Who is your partner in the home group?

Thanks Prossy. Esther Aryemo and Fiona. Let me get there.

-
Thanks Nellie for those wonderful questions? What we think of other techology tools to supplement the few available computers?
-
the ways are very many to make pupils engaged. but it depends on what is to be learned
-
True Wandera and Twaha. That is what the teacher has to be on top of things. He needs to be flexible enough and knowledgeable enough to know what technology tools that work.
-
Yes Nellie and we need to teach ourselves how to handle issues regarding challenges with computers like using free resources

7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months agoOne of the problems identified with having one technology device is thatl the high ratio of students to a device slows down learning and completion of task.

1) How does the Teacher deal with delays in task execution and
ensure that all the students are actively working and engaged?

– Can we make use other other technologies like tablets or smart phones so that all the students remain engaged on the same activity?
– How does the teacher ensure that the alternative technologies don’t turn into time wasters?-
I agree Twaha, the teacher must be able to ensure that there is no time wasting.
