7.4 Technology Group 9 years, 5 months agoTechnology is changing the way in which we view learning spaces and the personal learning environment of our students because students surf the Internet, Tweet, use Facebook and come up with lots of learning material that a teacher may fail to find single handed for his learners. We as teachers at school need to allow our learners to explore the…[Read more]

7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoConstruction is still largely dictated by “teacher in classroom” scenario. With devices like tablets, all that may be necessary is a rooftop to guard against rain!

Emma,
This ok with me as well. Yes teacher based on whatever approaches teacher intended. My feel is that we insist on a kind architecture that will prevent not only the rain but dust, wind noise etc.-
I would consider that for the existing hardware but would advocate for virtue learning spaces the way to go. more so this wiuld involve parents more in learning. Simply because some parents dont want their childrento access Internetbecause of fear to adopt bad cultures. But if Principal informs all parents about the Virtual school learning…[Read more]

7.4 Technology Group 9 years, 5 months agoThe contradiction of learners engaging and learning with technology away from school, only to be told to put away their technologies at school in order to “learn” should be seriously addressed and resolved.
-
That comes with a lot of sensitization and it begins with us the converted.
-
Sure Emma, but it may not come easily just like Patrick notes, a lot of sensitization to many stakeholders.

Whether sooner or later, the issue must be addressed.

7.4 Technology Group 9 years, 5 months agoThanks colleagues. I have joined late but let me add my voice to the argument that it is not necessary to create new spaces just for the sake of integrating technology in teaching and learning. Through virtual learning we can be able to break classroom walls. For example through virtual field trips students have the chance to learn, interact and…[Read more]

some brief information about them?

In this article it shows that for a start learners might not be able to learn independent of a teacher. It advocates for blended learning.
A virtual classroom session once in a while would suffice.-
great

-
That first resourse is so nice. Virtual classes can be conducted anywhere and in so doing allowing us to break down the walls.
-
-
Yes the issue is not so much about creating new physical spaces than it is about creating virtual spaces.

This is another great resource that gives 5 innovative ways in ways how technology is breaking down the walls of the classroom

Thanks Geoffrey. Site is rich with information on classroom learning and technology and it also has links. Most importantly it tells of how technology supports learning beyond the four walls.
-
Thanks for your contribution. The cite gives insight on extending learning beyond the classroom.

I am amused by the contrast of going to school on the first day then and now. Time will come when you can attend school on the first day from your bedroom using a mobile tech tool and say hi Tutor!!!!!
-
Wonderful resource. It does not only talk about breaking down the walls, it goes on to tell us other wonderful practices like classes becoming collaborative.
