1) How does the Teacher deal with delays in task execution and
ensure that all the students are actively working and engaged?
2) How do the students quickly access the shared information and
keep the timelines with not enough computers for all?

General Observations on Old Things and Old Ways.
This refers to using a tech tool to do things inthe same old way with no functional change. This is at the lowest level of the SAMR model.
– using Evernote instead of handwritten notes.
– keeping records and assessments…[Read more]-
I agree. Old wine in new wine skins –
– Students print out worksheet, finish it, and pass it in.
-A Word Processor replaces a Pen/Pencil in a Writing Assignment.
– Reading Shakespeare texts online.
-Distributing a quiz in a Word Processor file format and have student fill in answers on a computer. -

7.3 3 – new things and old ways – will old tactics work with mobile technologies? 9 years, 5 months agoHello memebers , Julius and Patricia this is what we have highlighted about new things and old ways.
Straight away to answer the question will old tactics work with mobole technologies, the truth is no. New things will work best when the approaches are also changed. As also Elliot Soloway states “I’am petrified that we’ll apply new technology…[Read more]

Thanks Julius and Patricia for these highlight, its very true the inadequate of web enabled devices is the cause for technology failure

Thanks Julius.

I agree with you Julius that the old pedagogy can not work with the new technologies. Over 2000 years ago Jesus Christ said “new wine can not be put in old wine skin; but new wine is for new wine skin” The mobile revolution in schools poses a potential for learning only if we can use the devices not to mechanize and standardize learning, but to…[Read more]

Take about breaking the walls project, mobile devices if planned for and integrated in our teaching /learning activities can go along way demystifying the myth of the classroom as being the only place where learning takes place
-
there is a lot of wasted learning space in schools

-
phones are even prohibited in most schools is not all schools, apart from tertiary institutes and universities.

Flipped Learning
Flipped Learning is a form of blended learning where students learn their lessons at home by watching video lectures and studying content online, and then doing their homework in class. Basically instead of learning directly from the…[Read more] -

7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months agoThe learners can explore the internet information on their own and gather more information about a topic.
Even in their groups, they could still be encouraged to start up their own libraries of information on topics or tasks assigned to them by their teachers. -

7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months agoWith only one technology device in class, the teacher can still go ahead and put the learners in smaller groups and allocate each group enough time to use the device. The device would therefore have to be shared and a schedule has to be put in place that all groups should adhere to.

– Can we make use other other technologies like tablets or smart phones so that all the students remain engaged on the same activity?
– How does the teacher ensure that the alternative technologies don’t turn into time wasters?
I agree Twaha, the teacher must be able to ensure that there is no time wasting.
once the internet is on free access in some parts like kampala, information will be easily accessed.
