7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoNew standards for study culture are creating opportunity for relationships to develop and collaboration to occur with increased technology. This is integral than ever to institutional success .As the needs and expectations continue to evolve schools ought to build and protect spaces virtually and in classrooms to help colleagues connect, offer…[Read more]

7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoPhysical space must be changed because schools are still very much constrained by some of the following issues:
1. Working conditions: such as optimal lighting or ergonomics for sitting, writing, reading or listening, are not sufficiently addressed;
2. Purchasing decisions and location of new technologies: often constrained by district…[Read more]-
From the link given i have actually learnt that space designed to allow for several activities is reason to give learners chance to carry out more projects compared to the traditional set-up.

Yes, there is a lot of collaboration when learning using technology. The sitting arrangement in the classroom needs to be constructed to support the collaboration which is a key characteristic of learning using technology. There is also need to structure the classrooms with power sources that will supply the technology during use.

From the shared link, I get points that emphasize factors that limit the adjustment and redesigning of learning spaces. True and they are common to many of our school situations.
However we need to share information on what basis or factors do justify the need for the learning spaces to be redesigned at certain points Jackie. What is your take? -
Thanks for the observation! There is need to improve on those areas highlighted which all encompass physical environment if we are make headway in technology integration.

7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoPhysical spaces need to be constructed for effective technology integration. Students need adequate space if we are to guide them on task and also when sharing with others. Collaboration is not only online but also physical and socially

Thank you Jackie,
I come in to say that actually human dynamics are key to work space design. -
I do agree with you Jackie with this. In reality allowing room for both online and physically interactions by any kind of design is itself flexibility. We have to think through plans and settings that allow more of these adjustments gradually.

7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months agoTeachers can also use their ipads and Tablets to demonstrate and illustrate concepts to the learners and as the devices move round the classroom one student can go ahead to present researched information.

7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months agoAs a matter of fact, every educator knows it is essential to keep students engaged. Technology is a central part of our everyday lives and so of course it should be a key aspect to education in order to prepare students for the real world and their future careers.
Using technology in the classroom allows the teacher to experiment more in pedagogy.…[Read more] -

7.3 1 – old things and old ways – dedicated technology venues 9 years, 5 months agoOld things old ways: Low density labs. These are the questions i have come up about the pictures:
1. How will the teacher deal with delays in task execution?
2. How will the students quickly access the shared information with a few computers available?
3. How will the teacher aviod redundancy likely to happen when all the students dont heve access…[Read more] -

7.3 1 – old things and old ways – dedicated technology venues 9 years, 5 months agoI would ask the following questions:
What technical skills do teachers require in order to be effective facilitators in low density computer labs?
What precautions need to be considered when using low density computer labsIn what ways can teachers make their lessons engaging and interesting in these venues?
What would be the appropriate role…[Read more]-
Thanks Nellie, can you put them in the wiki and then edit? I think it may be easier to edit from there where we can easily see repetitions and make amendments. Who is your partner in the home group?

Thanks Prossy. Esther Aryemo and Fiona. Let me get there.

Thanks Nellie for those wonderful questions? What we think of other techology tools to supplement the few available computers?
-
the ways are very many to make pupils engaged. but it depends on what is to be learned
-
True Wandera and Twaha. That is what the teacher has to be on top of things. He needs to be flexible enough and knowledgeable enough to know what technology tools that work.
-
Yes Nellie and we need to teach ourselves how to handle issues regarding challenges with computers like using free resources

I agree with you Stephen about the the need to actually set standards within institutions. It implies there is a plan to fit future expectations within certain bounds and interests of both the teachers and students.
Nice to hear joan.
