7.3 2 – old things and new ways – one technology device in the classroom 9 years, 5 months ago As a matter of fact, every educator knows it is essential to keep students engaged. Technology is a central part of our everyday lives and so of course it should be a key aspect to education in order to prepare students for the real world and their future careers.
Using technology in the classroom allows the teacher to experiment more in pedagogy. This can help the teacher learn more about how to effectively design and execute a class guided with technology. Whether it’s a dramatic change such as teaching with a flipped-classroom, or just adopting a single tool for a specific project or term, you’ll learn something new in modern academia
We live in a digital world. Neither the teacher, nor your students, should go back to the 19th century when they walk into your classroom. Using technology in the classroom can prepare your students for a future deeply rooted in technology.
Factors that hinder the faster progress of technology adoption in classroom
One-to-One Technology barrier
For true technological advance to occur, the computers must be personal to each learner. When used properly and well for education, these computers become extensions of the students’ personal self and brain. The resources that institutions have are not enough to overcome this barrier and that is something sharing just doesn’t allow. Any ratio that involves sharing computers — even two kids to a computer — will delay the technology revolution from happening.
Digital Immigrants
Schools, teachers and administrators normally resist change. Technology seems a threat to a number of schools since the users are not well-versed with the operations and planning with the use of technology hence opting for the old ways!
