7.4 Construction group 9 years, 7 months agoMobile and personal technology is transforming the way learning spaces are used and configured. Traditionally learning spaces were aligned with student desks and chairs (or benches) in rows facing the front of the classroom, often secured to the floor. Obviously this arrangement supported passive learning and methods of direct instruction but…[Read more]

Charles in addition to the collaboration and the possibility of the environment being flexible ,i have also taken note of the idea of he
variation of furniture you are arguing for. This in a similar way also
allows for the flexibility suitability to the different forms of spaces we are advocating for. -
I agree with the need to redisign and change the setting of the learning spaces as technology more technologies come in place to support the teaching – learning process.
The flexibility allows room for adapting and adopting new pedagogies within the same working space for example the use of group work, cooperative learning, research work and i…[Read more]

I agree with you Stephen. With the emergence of technology in teaching/learning, the learning spaces have to be constructed in such a way to take care of the technology. The use of technology requires collaboration, active engagement with the technology, movement with the classroom space, etc, all of which will require a carefully constructed…[Read more]

in fact once this is put into practice. the coaching and cramming of answers so that students pass exams will come to an end.

Edward this is a wonderful post. Teaching using online resources does not only break down the walls but it is also another avenue to let learners collaborate.

collaborate and access a variety of information, where they can study, analyse and select the most appropriate information

But in the real sense of it more learning now takes place out side the classroom than inside of it.

That comes with a lot of sensitization and it begins with us the converted.
Sure Emma, but it may not come easily just like Patrick notes, a lot of sensitization to many stakeholders.
