7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoPhysical space must be changed because schools are still very much constrained by some of the following issues:
1. Working conditions: such as optimal lighting or ergonomics for sitting, writing, reading or listening, are not sufficiently addressed;
2. Purchasing decisions and location of new technologies: often constrained by district…[Read more]-
From the link given i have actually learnt that space designed to allow for several activities is reason to give learners chance to carry out more projects compared to the traditional set-up.

Yes, there is a lot of collaboration when learning using technology. The sitting arrangement in the classroom needs to be constructed to support the collaboration which is a key characteristic of learning using technology. There is also need to structure the classrooms with power sources that will supply the technology during use.

From the shared link, I get points that emphasize factors that limit the adjustment and redesigning of learning spaces. True and they are common to many of our school situations.
However we need to share information on what basis or factors do justify the need for the learning spaces to be redesigned at certain points Jackie. What is your take? -
Thanks for the observation! There is need to improve on those areas highlighted which all encompass physical environment if we are make headway in technology integration.

7.4 Construction group 9 years, 5 months agoPhysical spaces need to be constructed for effective technology integration. Students need adequate space if we are to guide them on task and also when sharing with others. Collaboration is not only online but also physical and socially

Thank you Jackie,
I come in to say that actually human dynamics are key to work space design. -
I do agree with you Jackie with this. In reality allowing room for both online and physically interactions by any kind of design is itself flexibility. We have to think through plans and settings that allow more of these adjustments gradually.

4.1 Changing Landscape 10 years, 7 months agoHello members, I have watched the two videos and as the two videos put it, digitization has put a lot of information at a disposal for our learners thus bringing learning from a completely different dimension. This as brought out by the two videos has been discovered by our learners and they have come to look at our mode of delivery in classrooms…[Read more]

Indeed Fiona the the information at our disposal is enormous. However our role then as teachers is to guide our students on how to access authentic information and guard them against any form of exploitations that may arise from exloring the digital landscae.
-
yaah that’s the best way to go, but when we plan we need to cater for all what is required regardless of the challenges.
-
I agree with you Walter, there is need for planning and taking our students through what they should expect. We should caution them of the dangers they are likely to face.

4.1 Changing Landscape 10 years, 7 months agoThe videos are highlighting the goodness of net searching, how easily one can access information but cautioning us teachers that as much as the students can get everything just by googling, they are prone to get wrong information, meet challenges such as cyber bullying where many teenagers have fallen victims to imposter accounts, sexual slur,…[Read more]

This is well-said. You are identifying your challenge for this course. What about the positives? How does the digital landscape offer our students opportunities?
-
Thanks Gerald, the positives are that they can access a lot of great staff from good sources, such as first class universities, the class is everywhere as long as they have the gadgets, can collaborate with others and can communicate with others within the twinkle of an eye, among others.
-
-
its very true, some times you find students arguing about a very wrong concept, simply because they accessed it from the internet, so a lot of guidance and help is needed as students collect data as from the videos

4.1 Changing Landscape 10 years, 7 months agoThe videos talks about information literacy modules and talks about google scholar as a good reference and also hints as to how one can get authentic information via library searching. It also tells as that any one can put anything on internet so one has to cautious. The second video talks of a lot of staff on the internet that is false. Sir Ken…[Read more]

This is a good summary Patrick. Now think about how the digital landscape in which our learners are growing up is offering them opportunities to influence society. How does it offer them opportunities?
-
yeah Patrick i agree with you, internet accommodates everything so learners should be taught where and how to get the best accurate information. by so doing advanced searches are needed. However in the first video i personally have learnt that reading many things is not a problem. you can acquire diverse understanding in the process of reading…[Read more]
